Put the full engine number from the vehicle if it has one. If it is missing or changed, explain and evidence the position rather than guessing.

The V355/5 guidance says box 33 is engine number and to give the full engine number, which you should get from the vehicle.

Read the engine number from the engine itself where possible.

Compare it with foreign papers, MOT, approval documents and receipts.

If the engine has been replaced, keep invoices or receipts for the replacement.

Do not put the VIN, chassis or frame number in box 33.
