GOV.UK says the NOVA/CARS evidence for a private import includes an official document confirming the VIN or chassis number. DVLA registration also depends on imported-vehicle evidence identifying the vehicle being registered.

Check the NOVA reference or HMRC confirmation against the vehicle VIN/chassis number.
